The presented article is based on defining the term and the ways of creation of sovereign wealth funds, describes the historical development and their relative importance in relation to other assets in the financial markets. It also briefly discusses the investment strategy of sovereign wealth funds, including the specific investments of sovereign wealth funds - ownership shares. The article also outlines the impact of sovereign wealth funds on the world economy, including their involvement in solving the problems of the financial crisis. Emphasis is put on the biggest problem of sovereign wealth funds - their transparency.
