a) Application for Admission to the PhD Programme
The period for submitting applications for the academic year 2025/2026 in terms of the second round of the admission process is between 1 January and 15 May 2025. Applications will be accepted for the following doctoral study programmes: Regional and Public Economics, System Engineering and Informatics.and Applied Informatics.
The applicant is obliged to submit a complete and signed application form together with all enclosures via post to the following address:

The applicant is supposed to meet all requirements; a certificate related to the applicant´s health state is not required. The prerequisite is successful completion of a Master's degree study programme (verification of the documents is stipulated in the university directives and information will be provided upon request by the coordinator for doctoral study). The applicant is obliged to enclose a curriculum vitae, a clear copy of passport, two passport photos, a reference letter, and a proof of the English proficiency.
All enclosed documents need to be translated into English (a notarized certified translation is required in the event the submitted documents are not originally in English) except the recognition of the Master's degree education (the Czech translation of the Master's diploma is required to be submitted when applying for recognition).
The application fee is CZK 2,000 (approx. EUR 80; the detailed information on payment will be submitted upon request.)
b) Acceptance Requirements
The applicant must submit an essay in writing (about 15 pages) on a particular topic of the chosen doctoral thesis (themes of the doctoral theses are available here). The applicant may propose his/her own theme, which can be accepted upon arrangement with a potential supervisor and based on approval of the advisory board of the particular study programme).
The applicant must submit a verified nostrification (recognition) of a Master´s degree education from a foreign university or a Master´s diploma from the Czech Republic or a proof of recognized education in terms of admission at the University of Pardubice;
The recognition fee payment in terms of the admission process is CZK 600 (the fee is related to recognition of a previous Master's degree education acquired in a foreign country; more information will be provided by Ms Barbora Paskova - Barbora.Paskova@upce.cz).
c) Entrance Interview Dates
The applicant is obliged to take part in the entrance interview in person or through electronic forms of communication (Skype etc.). Interviews will be held between 1 March and 30 June 2025. For further information please contact Ms Radka Bartonickova (Radka.Bartonickova@upce.cz).
d) Taking Decisions on Acceptance
At most, a total of 20 applicants will be accepted for each doctoral study programme. Applicants must meet the acceptance requirements (including payments of an administrative fee and tuition fee). The final resolution on acceptance is provided by the dean.
e) Notice of Acceptance
A written resolution by the Dean of the Faculty on the acceptance will be sent to the applicant trough postal services or electronically.
f) Review Proceedings
According to the § 50 of the law no. 111/1998 Col., on universities and the change and completion of other laws (Law on Universities) as amended by the subsequent regulation, the applicant who has not been accepted, may apply for a review of the resolution within 30 days from the delivery day of the resolution. It should be addressed to the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administration, the University of Pardubice.
g) Tuition Fee Payment
The tuition fee is CZK 3,000 (approx. EUR 120) per one academic year. The student is obliged to pay the whole amount of the tuition fee after being accepted as a student of the Faculty of Economics and Administration, University of Pardubice (on the date of enrolment at the latest), and send the original confirmation of payment to Radka.Bartonickova@upce.cz. Once paid, the tuition fee is returnable only after submitting the confirmation of visa denial issued by the authorized Embassy of the Czech Republic to the Department of Research and Development at FEA (refunds on tuition fees will be deducted a EUR 30 processing fee).

i) Enrolment in Study
The student is obliged to enrol in study on the day of registration on 1 September 2025 (at the latest 27 February 2026) at the Department of Research and Development. In the event the student misses the date of registration for study without a proper excuse, his/her study will be terminated immediately.
j) Deferment of Study
It is not possible to apply for the deferment of study.
