a) Application for Admission to the PhD Programme
The application period for the academic year 2025/2026 (second round) is open from 7 July to 24 August 2025. The second round is primarily intended for applicants who obtained their academic degrees in the Czech Republic. Applications will be accepted for the following doctoral study programmes: Regional and Public Economics, System Engineering and Informatics, and Applied Informatics.

The applicant must meet all admission requirements; however, a medical certificate is not required. A prerequisite for admission is the successful completion of a Master’s degree programme. Verification of documents is governed by the university’s internal regulations, and further information will be provided upon request by the coordinator for doctoral studies.
The applicant is also required to submit a curriculum vitae, a clear passport copy, two passport-sized photographs, a reference letter, and proof of English language proficiency.
All enclosed documents must be translated into English. If the original documents are not in English, a notarized certified translation is required. An exception applies to the recognition of the Master's degree: in this case, a Czech translation of the Master's diploma must be submitted when applying for recognition.
The application fee is CZK 2,000 (approximately EUR 80). Detailed payment information will be provided upon request.
b) Acceptance Requirements
The applicant must submit a written essay (approximately 15 pages) on a specific topic related to the chosen doctoral thesis. The list of available thesis topics can be found here. Applicants may also propose their own topic, which may be accepted upon agreement with a potential supervisor and subject to approval by the advisory board of the particular study programme.
The applicant must submit either a verified nostrification (recognition) of a Master’s degree obtained from a foreign university, or Master’s diploma from a Czech university, or a document confirming recognition of education for the purposes of admission to the University of Pardubice.
The fee for recognition of foreign education for admission purposes is CZK 600 (this applies to the assessment of a Master’s degree obtained abroad). For more information, please contact Ms Barbora Paskova - Barbora.Paskova@upce.cz).
c) Entrance Interview Dates
The applicant is required to attend the entrance interview either in person or via electronic communication platforms (e.g., Skype, MS Teams). Interviews will be held between 25 August and 30 September 2025. For further information, please contact Ms Radka Bartonickova (Radka.Bartonickova@upce.cz).
d) Taking Decisions on Acceptance
A maximum of two applicants will be admitted to each doctoral study programme. Applicants must meet the admission requirements, including payment of the administrative and tuition fees. The final decision on admission is made by the Dean of the Faculty.
e) Notice of Acceptance
A written decision by the Dean of the Faculty regarding the acceptance will be sent to the applicant either by post or electronically.
f) Review Proceedings
Pursuant to Section 50 of Act. No. 111/1998 Coll., on Higher Education Institutions and on Amendments and Supplements to Other Acts, as amended, an applicant who has not been admitted may request a review of the decision within 15 days from the date of delivery of the decision. The request should be addressed to the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administration, the University of Pardubice.
g) Tuition Fee Payment
The tuition fee is CZK 3,000 (approx. EUR 120) per academic year. After being accepted as a student of the Faculty of Economics and Administration, University of Pardubice, the student is required to pay the full tuition fee no later than the day of enrolment and to send the original confirmation of payment to Radka.Bartonickova@upce.cz. Once paid, the tuition fee is refundable only upon submission of an official visa denial confirmation issued by the authorized Embassy of the Czech Republic to the Department of Doctoral Studies and Academic Qualifications at FEA (a processing fee of EUR 30 will be deducted from the refunded amount).

i) Enrolment in Study
The student is required to enrol in the study programme on the day of registration, which must take place between 1 September and 3 October 2025 (or by 27 February 2026 at the latest) at the Department of Doctoral Studies and Academic Qualifications. If the student fails to register without a valid excuse, his/her study will be terminated immediately.
j) Deferment of Study
It is not possible to request a deferment of studies.
