The process of digital transformation of economies contains significant potential for increasing the performance of economies and economic subjects. The analysis of the consequences of introducing sophisticated technologies into smaller territorial units is still an unexplored territory not only in the Czech Republic but also worldwide. Also, the definition of possible impacts of digitization or its precise quantification is an area that has been studied mainly at the state level. A detailed analysis of the socioeconomic consequences of the digitization has so far lacked a regional dimension. In particular, the analysis will examine the relationship between the variability of selected variables demonstrating their technological maturity (e.g. implementation of sophisticated technologies in individual sectors and sectors of the national economy - e.g. e-Government Development Index, use of social networks, achievements of the smart regions) and socioeconomic performance of individual regions.
