Evelyn is a Ghanaian Ph.D. student of System Engineering. We have asked her a few questions to find out what she thinks about studying at our faculty.

What was the main reason for deciding to go to study in the Czech Republic?
The main reason was to join my husband and enhance my qualifications.

Did you experience any culture shock when moving here?
Yes, I was shocked by the language barrier and bureaucracy (lots of paperwork everywhere) and the behaviour of the Czechs.

Why did you choose the Faculty of Economics and Administration of the University of Pardubice?
I chose to study at the Faculty of Economics and Administration to deepen my knowledge, expand my skills, and develop my career in order to be ready for the competitive world of business and gain more insight into the complex environment of finance, research, and theory.

Why did you choose your study programme?
Studying Informatics is much more than just computers, it is now the backbone of every economy and society; therefore, it leads me in the direction of a growing sector where qualified specialists can find excellent career opportunities. In addition, studying Economics has given me insight into how individuals and organizations make decisions and predict potential changes in the world.

What is the highlight of your studies here?
My academic highlights are my completion of both bachelor's and master’s degree programmes and my decision to pursue Ph.D. studies here.

How do you find studying at the faculty?
Studying has been very intense, comprehensive, and progressive yet exciting at all levels of my education.

What does your typical day look like?
Usually, I am busy researching, studying or relaxing.

What do you like the most about studying and living in the Czech Republic?
I like the serenity of the academic atmosphere, accompanied by an exceptional academic structure plus the experience and friendliness of the teachers while sharing their knowledge.

What are the benefits of studying at the faculty for your future professional career?
Earning a degree is a great accomplishment in one’s career. Acquiring knowledge, developing skills, and gaining experience will enable me to have better access to the job market to share my knowledge and skills with those I encounter.

What was your first impression of the Czech Republic and what is it now?
One of a beautiful, quiet, liberal, and tolerant country.

What do you think of Pardubice?
Beautiful and serene environment for study and life. It is the best place to live.

Do you have any piece of advice for anyone who is considering studying in the Czech Republic?
Yes, once you do not need to deal with any financial issues, you will have the peace needed to excel in your academic work and enjoy other activities and opportunities that the country offers.
