Joined by Ing. Anna Dvořáková and Ing. Bernard Vaníček, my colleagues from the Faculty of Economics and Administration, I had an opportunity, as part of my PhD studies, to do a one-month research internship at the Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. We had a chance to get an academic insight into finance and banking. This opportunity not only deepened our knowledge and enhanced our skills, but also opened new perspectives and introduced novel approaches for our research.

During the internship, I attended a number of seminars and met members of the TDTU academic community, who shared with us valuable insights and inspiration for our future work. Engaging with the TDTU faculty ad well as Professor Chung, Visiting Professor from Korea, and other PhD students opened new avenues for our research.

However, the agenda also included non-academic activities. We visited some of the leading financial institutions such as KB Asset Management, KIS Vietnam Securities Joint Stock Company a Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, and thus could compare the Vietnamese market and European standards, as well as gain valuable insights from professionals. Thanks to meeting local students and learning about Vietnamese culture, we could better understand the Asian education system and context, thus gaining new opportunities for further cooperation and research.

To sum up, the research internship was extremely valuable experience with an impact on our academic career and future research.
