Description:
Central and Eastern Europe has a rather recent interest in the modern, democratic local government studies. This trend is mostly explained by the developments of the political studies and the research on local political issues occurred not earlier than the beginning of the 1990s. In this context, the efforts of RSA RN POL-LOC are linked to: Conducing university students and perspective university teachers/researchers from the CEE countries to enhance the focus on local government and related issues; Developing the research in the fields of local governance; Advancing courses linked to local governance, local government, local and regional development and related issues. A main research problem of the RSA RN POL-LOC is: ?What is a current state of local governance in the Central and Easter European countries?? The research network wants to deal with various issues that can help us to understand how local governments, local/regional development, local policy making and other related issues have been developed in the mentioned region since 1989/1990. Local governance as a broad phenomenon requires interdisciplinary research, and therefore the network includes various researchers from several Central and Eastern European countries. Concerning an ambition of the RSA RN POL-LOC, it is focused on achievement of the following objectives: Initiation and establishment of a long-term cooperation between the partner universities/faculties/institutes, their students and teachers/researchers, who deal with local governance and related issues; Motivation of young researchers and students from the CEE countries to become members of the RSA RN POL-LOC as well as RSA and to strengthen their career by such memberships; Preparation and development of innovative, strongly interdisciplinary and high quality research; Preparation of high quality research outcomes that would be aimed at local governance and related issues; Preparation of innovative, strongly interdisciplinary and high quality teaching materials that would be aimed at local governance, including especially policy making and politics at the local level; Contribution to the European studies that are centred on local governance and related issues; Contribution to other RSA outcomes; Promotion of the RSA. Concerning the research outcomes, they will be published in relevant scientific journals in order to share them with both the RSA members and the RSA non-members. Besides, they will be included into the curricula of selected courses provided by the represented universities.
