The Faculty of Economics and Administration of the University of Pardubice managed to succeed in strong European competition and obtain the prestigious Jean Monnet Module grant for the implementation of the project FLEVEES: Future Leaders in Public Administration and Finance: Embracing EU Values, Excellence, and Environmental Stewardship. The project is focused on the development of future leaders in public administration and finance with an emphasis on European values, excellence, and environmental responsibility and will last 3 years.

The project will teach new and innovative courses in English and Czech intended for master's students, who will thus acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the areas of EU law, policymaking, environmental and monetary policy. The main course European Union Law and Policies taught in English will also be open to foreign students and will support the international exchange of experience between domestic and Erasmus students. Furthermore, the project will newly focus more on the issues of European policies in the subjects Monetary Policy and Theory and Environmental Economics and Management. Students will also learn about internship opportunities in EU institutions and job opportunities.

The project also has a significant scientific dimension. It includes research activities, the results of which will be published in two peer-reviewed journals focusing on the monetary and environmental policies of the European Union. Students and academics will participate in professional meetings and seminars with international experts, which will take place both in person and online. At the same time, the initiative also has a popularization character - lectures will be held for the University of the Third Age and for high school students, which will contribute to a better understanding of the functioning of the European Union, its policies and values.

The project team, consisting of JUDr. Jana Janderová (Doctor of Laws), assoc. prof. Jan Černohorský, assoc. prof. Robert Baťa, dr. Solomon Gyamfi and dr. Simona Tučková is convinced that students will be able to recognize the importance of this opportunity and will use it to deepen their understanding of the European Union - not only as a political and economic entity that promotes key values such as democracy, the rule of law, accountability, transparency, sustainability and efficiency, but also as a space offering opportunities for employment in the field of public administration and finance. Knowledge of the European context can be a valuable asset for graduates' future professional activities, and the FLEVEES project offers students an inspiring path to further develop in this area.
