V důsledku toho se mnoho ekonomických aktérů snaží opustit tradiční, lineární modely toku materiálu a energie (Korhonen et al., 2018) charakteristické pro stávající (tzv. moderní) ekonomické systémy ve prospěch modelů založených na princip (smyčkového) oběhového hospodářství (CE), kde vznikají ekologické inovace a udržitelné produkty. eng Business Models for the Circular Economy: A European Perspective: Aim of the Book and Overview of the Different Chapters Against the background of the current trend in terms of the ongoing growth of production and consumption, it will be challenging to ensure resources for future generations. Increased ecological awareness and the obviously growing scarcity of resources have already led to the introduction of new environmental standards, triggering enterprises, regions, and even countries to adopt new business models (BM) and industrial reconversion approaches. Consequently, many economic actors are seeking to abandon traditional, linear extract–produce–use–dump material and energy flow models (Korhonen et al., 2018) characteristic of the existing (so-called modern) economic systems in favour of models based on the (looped) circular economy (CE) principle, where eco-innovation and sustainable products are created. From the perspective of the EU, the need for academic research to address the environmental challenge, specifically regarding the sustainability and the CE topic, has been declared (Urbinati et al., 2017). circular economy; European Union; environmental standards; scarcity of resources
