V článku jsou prezentovány výsledky analýz vztahu ziskovosti a zadluženosti ve zpracovatelském průmyslu v české ekonomice. Rentabilita vlastního kapitálu vykazuje mezi sektory výrazné rozdíly. ROE v odvětvích jsou od -8 % ve výrobě počítačových, elektronických a optických zařízení až do 24 % v odvětvích Výroba pryžových a plastových výrobků a Výroba ostatních dopravních prostředků. Průměrná návratnost investic ve zpracovatelském průmyslu činí 12,01 %, přičemž poměr dluhu k HDP činí v letech 2010 - 2014 48,31 %. Existuje mnoho studií zaměřených na nalezení smysluplného vztahu mezi finanční výkonností a kapitálovou strukturou v mnoha zemích v různých hospodářských odvětvích. Tyto studie přinesly protichůdné výsledky. V této studii byl Spearmanův korelační test zaměřen na poměr ROE a zadluženosti v odvětvích zpracovatelského průmyslu. Oproti tomu se vztah mezi ROA a poměrem dluhu nepodařilo se statistickou významností potvrdit. The paper presents the results of analyzes of the relationship of profitability and debt in the industrial sectors of the Czech economy. Formed return on equity ranking shows significant differences among sectors. ROE margins in sectors are from -8% in Manufacture of computer, electronic and optical equipment up to 24% in sectors Manufacture of rubber and plastic products and Manufacture of other transport equipment. The average ROE in the manufacturing industry is 12.01% with debt ratio 48.31% in the years 2010 - 2014. There are many studies aimed at finding meaningful link between financial performance and capital structure in many countries in different sectors of economy. These studies have yielded conflicting results. In this study Spearman correlation test showed link between ROE and debt ratio in branches of manufacturing industry. Against it the relationship between ROA and debt ratio has not confirmed with statistical significance. The question for future study is, if the growth of ROE has resulted to a decrease of debt ratio or vice versa.	prosperity; return on equity; return on assets; debt ratio; manufacturing industry
