eng UMN MapServer and Influence of Selected Security Measurements on Its Response Time Today it is impossible to make decisions without utilization of spatial information. Thus, Internet based geographic information systems (GIS) and so called GIservices have become and inherent and widely spread part of information systems in both public and private sector. This development resulted into many new quality requirements on the above stated information technologies. In the framework of this study one Internet based GIS solution was chosen (UMN MapServer) and some quality sub-characteristics of extended ISO/IEC 9126 quality model were chosen for evaluation of the part of quality of provided services. Namely, end-user response time, service time of the server and presence or absence of selected security measurements belong to the metrics used for evaluation of the chosen software quality of services. Various security measurements were used for testing purposes, e.g. IPsec protocol, Authentication Header, Encapsulating Security Payload, Secure Sockets Layer protocol, and various encryption algorithms. Obtained experimental results were treated by means of the basic exploratory statistical data analysis. It was determined that some of the chosen security measurements have an influence on the response time of MapServer, i.e. they have an influence on the quality of provided services.
