Description:
The rapidly changing world brings new challenges that economic actors have to face if they want to keep up with the competition and maintain continuous economic growth. In recent years, there has been a motivation for innovation-based growth. Moreover, modern economies started moving towards ecosystem design. Following these changes, countries and firms are forced to monitor and flexibly respond to the actions and strategies of their partners and competitors. They are also pushed to identify appropriate determinants that would positively affect their innovation performance and the effectiveness of national and regional innovation ecosystems. At the same time, it is possible to see a growing demand for studies that would take into account the introduction of the principles of sustainability and circular economy into economic analyses. These studies should take into account all economic and social aspects of the functioning of sustainable innovation ecosystems, taking into account the role of the public sector. It is due to the fact that the economic and social development of states is influenced by public policies applied within their innovation ecosystems. The presented project builds on the results of previous projects SGS_2019_18 and SGS_2020_014. The main aim of the presented project proposal is to contribute to the expansion of existing knowledge, especially in areas of (sustainable) national and regional innovation ecosystems based on circular economy principles, including the identification of key stakeholders influencing the efficient functioning of innovation ecosystems. It is also crucial to identify the role of public policy makers as well as public policies implemented in selected areas of public services? provision or state management, but also in the areas of economic and regional (innovation) policy. As it will be a comprehensive analysis focused on several elements forming innovative ecosystems, the project will also analyse, for example, the issue of rational ignorance of the voter and the results of public choice in theory and practice. Moreover, the functioning of local government will be analysed. By using standard scientific methods, it will be possible to perform a comprehensive analysis that will lead to the expansion of the current state of knowledge and to the design practical implications that will be useful not only for public policy makers but also for representatives of the private sector.
