Institute of Regional and Security Sciences

The Institute of Regional and Security Sciences was established at the Faculty of Economics and Administration on 1 January 2012 and represents institutional roofing of a segment of activities undertaken by the faculty involved with scientific research, educational and other professional activities. The institute is focused on regional economics disciplines in a broader interdisciplinary context and emphasizes two directions: urbanism – linked to the regional development issues traditionally – and security (of residents, businesses, state) – as a directions which connection with regional development has been rising and requires more attention in practice.

The institute participates in implementation of all three study programmes conducted at the Faculty of Economics and Administration, ie, HPS, SII and EM, both in bachelor and master study. In the case of the Regional and Public Economics programme (HPS) the institute also participates in doctoral study where associates of the institute operate as PhD supervisors.
